Propane for the trailer, filled while you wait
The short answer
We fill removable RV and camper propane cylinders at 5600 Baltimore Drive in La Mesa, until 9:00 PM daily, 10:00 PM on Friday and Saturday. Call (619) 463-1615 first if your tank is permanently mounted on the vehicle.
We are a few minutes from Interstate 8 and State Route 125, which makes us an easy stop on the way east toward the desert or the mountains, or on the way home.
Before you come
Check the date stamp
Stamped around the collar. A cylinder is good for 12 years from its manufacture date, then needs recertifying every 5 years.
How to read itCheck the valve
A triangular handwheel means an OPD valve, which is required. An old star or round handwheel usually means the cylinder cannot be filled.
Bring it loose if you can
Removable cylinders are quicker to handle than working around a hitch. Not essential, just faster.
Room to move
Bring the rig. There is space.
Pull in one side, fill up, pull out the other. No three point turns, no backing a trailer out onto Baltimore Drive, no unhitching.

Common questions
Can you fill an RV propane cylinder?
Yes, we fill removable RV and camper cylinders, the kind that lift out of the front of a travel trailer. Bring it in, we check the date and valve, and fill it while you wait.
What about a tank built into the motorhome?
Permanently mounted onboard tanks need a different setup than portable cylinders. Call (619) 463-1615 before you drive over and we will tell you honestly whether we can do yours.
Do you fill before a trip on a weekend?
Until 9:00 PM every day, and until 10:00 PM on Friday and Saturday. Friday night and Sunday evening are the two times RV owners most often find a closed propane counter, so those are the hours worth knowing about.
What is an OPD valve?
An overfill prevention device. Cylinders made since 1998 have one, usually with a triangular handwheel. A cylinder without one cannot legally be filled and will need replacing.
